[sclug] Fwd: Linking an XP box and Debian box via router

Still going...
There's another hiccup. I can't seem to see my printer from the XP box. I
can see the debian machine in the local workgroup, I can access the folders
I have told Samba to share, but although I have configured CUPS (as root) to
allow printer sharing with
cupsctl --share-printers
but the XP Add Printers tool can only see down as far as my debian box, not
the attached printer. Printer is on and working all that stuff.
What else do I need to do to 'expose' my debian printer server to the XP
box?
TIA
Neil.

Actually cancel that - I have got shares working in both directions, so
mission accomplished.
Thanks for the pointers (even if the problem more or less resolved itself!)
Neil.

The submasks are all 255.255.255.0.
Actually today I see I can now ping both ways (!!). Perhaps there was a
wireless drop out when I was attempting it yesterday. Who knows? Anyway it
appears that the machines can see each other.
I can also now see Windows shares from the Debian box, so that leaves the
question of what I need to do to be able to make folders on the Debian box
sharable from a WinXP box. Can someone give me some tips on what to do?
TIA
Neil.
