Things sound a little totalitarian over at Stalag Sinclair! 30 days?!!

What does passwd -S <username> say? (Hopefully it starts with L - meaning the 
account is simply locked) See man page for details (type in man passwd as the 
$ prompt).
Tried passwd -e <username>? passwd -u <username>?
