[Scottish] X mouse cursor disappears

If it's the nv driver and you're not adverse to binary-only modules you
could try the nvidia driver (i.e. from Nvidia, not xorg/freedesktop.org).
If it IS the nvidia driver then check the documentation at nvidia's site --
there are options for "hardware rendered" mouse pointer which you can turn
on/off (depending on which doesn't work).
