while i was at university, i often ran dedicated servers for half-life
based games on a P 200 mmx box with up to 20 people connecting with no
issues at all.
the only real problem was physical RAM, which you can never have enough of
for modern games. and there are alot of games that have a linux server
(half-life being one of them, and UT2k3 being another)
