I got tribes running through wine, its quite easy you just need to use the
Dinput.dll other wise it crashes when you press a key.
great game, i hope when tribes 3 comes out there is a linux port that is
better supported than tribes 2

yea, running a dedicated server's fine, u need min spec for most games,
but 256 min ram would be advasable as serving is always memory intensive
i've got tribes if anyones intrested, absolutly no copywrite protection,
network or otherwise,
and it'll run thru wine if someones knows what they're doing :$
great game, if you want summat thats more than a run a shoot escapade its
a bit more challenging than UT
or u could get hold of Americas Army (www.americasarmy.com -ignore the
site, u can still get it free), another great game, need a reasonable system
to run that (Pros'800Ram'128Video'32 min), but on the plus side is linux
native
can you tell i dont like paying for things?

Have been meaning to get one together since moving in:-) There are 19
ports free on my switch at last count, and about 70m of cat5 for leads, so
could probably support more network users than can physically get in the
flat!
Was actually trying to buy a copy of Unreal Tournament for my PC today;
tried 3 shops + all sold out! In the longer term, I will probably get a
reasonably fast box + run a couple of multiplayer games on a dedicated
server on my ADSL.
Can you get away with a slower box, less good graphics card etc if a
machine is used as a "Pure Server" (there seem to be quite a few popular
games that support this) as opposed to the kit needed for decent gameplay?
