There is an Amateur Radio Club in Derby which has some computer buffs.  They 
have radio networking experience - repeaters etc. It might be a good idea to 
arrange a demo at one of their weekly meetings (Tuesday) in Mickleover.  I am 
a not very active member myself but have contacts.  It might provide some 
recruits to your project(s) and maybe a sharing of interests.
