[Sderby] wvdial on SuSE 9.1

Hi folks,

Has anyone managed to get wvdial working from a standard user account on SuSE 
9.1?  I have managed to get it running as root, however, as a user I get 
loads of problems.  Google showed some answers and I've been playing with 
permissions, but can't quite get it.  I have had to setuid /usr/sbin/pppd 
however, the thing I'm having problems with is the chap and pap secrets files 
in /etc/ppp.  /var/log/messages shows different errors depending on how I 
have the permissions set.  "Unable to obtain CHAP password from plugin" is a 
common one.  It also complains when I have group permissions set on the chap 
secrets file, but how else do I let users read it?!  Has anyone solved this 
problem before?
