My advice would be to install them both, use each for two weeks or so until
you feel you've got the hang of it, and then decide which you like best.
I've never used Gnome, but I love KDE and would recommend it to anyone...
Unless you only have a really basic system (I think it can take quite a lot
of resources).  I need to get around to trying Gnome sometime, tell me what
you think of it if you do use it!
