Lauri,

as you are using suse, go to this page on the linuxant site
http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/full/downloads-suse-x86.php

If you are up to date with your patches you should be running
2.6.18.8-0.1-default which is the top link in the list. (typing uname -r
will show you which kernel version you are running)

Use a terminal and unzip the downloaded file:

# unzip hsfmodem-7.60.00.02full_k2.6.18.8_0.1_default-1suse.i586.rpm.zip

output should show something like:
Archive: hsfmodem-7.60.00.02full_k2.6.18.8_0.1_default-1suse.i586.rpm.zip
  inflating: hsfmodem-7.60.00.02full_k2.6.18.8_0.1_default-1suse.i586.rpm
  inflating: LICENSE

stupid restrictive licence bah! :(

then (as root) type:

rpm -ivh hsfmodem-7.60.00.02full_k2.6.18.8_0.1_default-1suse.i586.rpm

this is what happened when I did just that on a suse testbox:
 # rpm -ivh hsfmodem-7.60.00.02full_k2.6.18.8_0.1_defa
ult-1suse.i586.rpm
warning: hsfmodem-7.60.00.02full_k2.6.18.8_0.1_default-1suse.i586.rpm:

Conexant HSF softmodem driver, version 7.60.00.02full

If you need license keys, assistance or more information, please go to:
        http://www.linuxant.com/

When reporting a problem for the first time, please send
us the file generated by "hsfconfig --dumpdiag".

Pre-built driver modules that seem compatible with your system were
found under
/usr/lib/hsfmodem/modules/binaries/linux-2.6.18.8-0.1-default-SMP.

Warning: no device detected by hsf driver - HDA modems may require reboot

Note: kernel module snd-via82xx-modem overridden by hsfmc97via
Note: kernel module snd-intel8x0m overridden by hsfmc97ich hsfmc97sis
Note: kernel module snd-atiixp-modem overridden by hsfmc97ati
#

installs fine :) As I dont have an HSF modem on the box you'll see an
error "no device detected..." - hopefully you should see something
different :)

cheers
SiG:)
