Just for the record, I have found the problem! It's down to an
undocumented error in the way that Opera 6.05 handles the output of PHP
scripts. I only upgraded my home copy to 6.05, hence not seeing it at
work, and installing 7.0beta2 or 6.01 fixes it!
BTW - While tracking this down, I ran the page through the W3C
validator, and there are a few "no-nos" in there (but no show-stoppers).
I have found this tool invaluable at work, and would recommend it to
anyone serious about web-site development (and yes, I am a stickler for
pure, compliant HTML, much to the annoyance of my cow-orkers!)
