Thanks guys. 

Do you know of a decent idiots, I mean newbie guide, to do the partition
step during the Ubuntu install? Just want to ensure I'm doing things correct
from day 1. What other partitions are required and how should I split up my
80 gig?

I've already installed it a couple of times so I could play with the
settings and get a feel for what is going on. The next install will be the
final one for a while (I hope). Thank goodness it doesn't take long to
install.
