I have submitted application to IANA (www.iana.org) for a 
protocol-number for out transport protocol (see below).

As I was filling it out a thought occurred:  Should we write
our specs for INSIDE as RFC?

Would allow the system to be completely open!  If some one
wants a Win32 server, well there are the specs, go implement
it.

A request/responce pair.  Cancel & Interrupt will probably be added later

This design work is on-going.  The design calls for the server to
configure the message op codes depending up the security restrictions
imposed by the super user.
     
Message Sequences :
The client request a document from the document store and waits for the
document to be returned (or cancels)
The client submits a new document to the document store
The client submits a admendment to a document in the document store
The client requests a catalogue of the documents in the document store
    
Protocol functions :
Document transfer either between the client and document store server,
or P2P between document stores.

Description :
We are designing a P2P document system that allows users to make amendments 
that will automatally added to the document (with out lossing orginal
content).

For example:
User of the HOWTO documents can added there own experences to the base HOWTO
document which are then available to the next reader of the HOWTO.  Rather
than
make a new document all knowledge can be pooled in a single document and
diseminated around the network.
