It's a short tube ride with one or two changes (depending upon 
which is your destination station.  The closest one is Kensington
(Olympia) which is on a spur and the trains don't run that often 
(compared with the rest of the tub service).  I seem to remember 
getting of and working from West Kensington which is only about
a 1 - 1.5 mile walk.

I recommend getting the travel card included on your train ticket.
Makes getting around London so much easier.
