[sub] [Sussex] SQL Server

Well I know its SQL using the resources and when I decide I want to shut
the service down it won't actually shut down, it enters a stopping state
and decides to continue its process the only way at the moment I can
stop it from doing this is by rebooting the server. At the moment I have
the servers turned off so it won't start at boot.
But I need to have SQL running. And if possible without having to reboot
because of this as the server is running need to be online.

Are you sure it's sql server creaing this traffic?

Have you shut down the sql server and seen what other services are
running
on your NT/XP server? It may be another service which you can just turn
off.

Hi all,

I know SQL server isn't really a Linux thing but you lot are probably
the best resource I got to get help to be honest.

Anyway I got a problem with SQL Server 8.00.194 where it hasn't started
to be used yet but its making 50% CPU usage (on a Xeon 2.0 GHz) after
about an hour of running. It's also making the hub look like a Christmas
tree with the amount of flashing it does.

Any ideas?
