Java in decline (Was) [Sussex] An odd question....

Well, I'm just going on the recruitment stats, it's not that it's use is in
decline, but employment in that sector is in decline. I think the main
reason is that Java is used heavily by the banking sector and they have been
laying people off left right and centre, so one of the major job markets for
Java programmers has evaporated.
As far as the language is concerned, Java is very cool, but it has new
competition in the form of .NET and still suffers from an image of being
slow and memory hungry.
