[Sussex] Open Source in Biometrics

Chaps,

Open source software seems to be leading the way in the Biometrics Industry
mainly because the attitude of the community matches that of Scientists and
because first Perl, and now Python (more so) represent 
languages that make the representation and processing of genetic information
particularly simple.

Over the weekend I was playing around with python using it to simulate the
process by which two strand DNA splits into a single strand RNA messenger.
These are the things I do for amusement (I know, I know, you don't have to
say it, my wife has already said it a million times over). 

So anyhow, I've seen at least one person on this list giving the ol'
ACCTGTTCAACTG.. so does anyone around here know any good Open-Source
Biometric resources online?
