I think I explained myself incorrectly, I am interested in the
content being visible to different browsers, especially so as I am trying to
get used to Linux and would like the site to be viewed fine through it so
others might have less 'niggles' about trying it. I was just trying to get
across his viewpoint. When the site was designed I had no experience with
any other browsers apart from IE so that was what I viewed it with and all
looked fine, and I thought it would view just the same in all browsers,
since installing Linux however I know this is not the case, and told him so.
The view expressed, his view, was that most people used IE so he wasn't that
bothered. I was just using his reply as an example of what might be
considered a typical viewpoint to from the average computer user,
(especially the freak reference!). The more browsers that can view the page
as I intended, the higher the possibility of receiving enquiries, so it is
at least it is of a financial interest to him and I have pointed this out.
Accessing it with Mozilla made me realise that everything wasn't all going
to plan. If I had known the .swf file wasn't viewable by all it wouldn't
have gone up, and indeed will be coming off soon.
As far as any new laws such as you mentioned coming into existence,
I think one of the great things about the internet is that anyone can set up
a site about whatever they want without too much trouble, and I hope
complying to any such incoming laws won't make it too hard for people to
continue to do this, it would be a real shame.
I would like to add that even though I used a graphics based editor, it
did lead me to learn some HTML coding to achieve things that the editor
couldn't/wouldn't do. Also viewing the code, making changes and then
viewing the altered code, did help me understand a little more.
