To change who can or can't use your D drive under linux I suggest you
investigate /etc/fstab .. I'll leave the rest to you - investigation is
half the fun ;)

On the mouse front, you want to look in /etc/X11/XF86Config .. if
you're using a recent 2.6 kernel then you should simply be able to
point at /dev/input/mice and it won't matter where you plug it in...
