I hope to be able to find a way for Tracy to be able to use Mozilla
Thunderbird in both Windows & Ubuntu & still see all of her e-mails.

I have been able to do this on my own system by setting up Thunderbird (the profile editor - forget its exact name) to save its stuff in a folder ie. thunderbird on a separate Fat32 partition (This is because,if you have XP or WIN2K your c: drive is likely to be NTFS).

In Ubuntu you make an entry into FSTAB to mount that partition to a folder in /HOME/USERNAME/windoze

You can then run the profile editor for Thunderbird from the Gnome menu. You then browse to the folder in windoze and save the new profile. Thunderbird creates a folder to save its details, for example "abc123vj". That would then translate to "/HOME/USERNAME/windoze/abc123vj".

You would then access identical details in both Windows and Ubuntu (that is Mailboxes and Contacts list in one fell swoop). Note that the profile name for both OS's must be the same.

I hope this helps.

Today when a man gets married he gets a home, a housekeeper, a cook, a cheering
squad and another paycheck. When a woman marries, she gets a boarder.
