Matt,
I sent another post, but I'm not sure if I sent it to the correct address
etc etc, so here goes again:
For the new Senao "Mercury" card, (Prism 3) add the following to
hostap_cs.conf ...
card "SENAO MERCURY"
version "WLAN", "11Mbps_PC-Card_3.0", "ISL37100P", "Eval-RevA"
manfid 0x000b, 0x7100
bind "hostap_cs"
You're sure the card is "up"? - ifconfig wlan0 up
Also, try setting your ESSID by hand first. Maybe the channel too. I don't
know if you are familiar with iwconfig, ifconfig, iwpriv etc? If you are,
then please excuse the following basic pointers ;)
iwconfig wlan0 essid "your_essid_here"
iwconfig wlan0 channel XX
If you are Debian based, there's a great little util' - "cardinfo". This
shows some handy info, IRQ's manfid info etc.
Hope some of this may be of use!?

Hum, perhaps I might have reconsidered buying it if I'd known more about
it then. :-(
Without re-reading the "bumpf" I don't know, but presume that it does,
though I'm not sure whether I could get any of them to "play", because
the phone doesn't have a keyboard as such (a software based one), it's
stylus input (mainly). I'd have to try and see (plus look to see if
there's anything about getting linux onto it!).

Well the device must support the minimul input device need by the J2ME
environment - otherwise it wouldn't be J2ME compatable.

OK, I've edited /etc/pcmcia/wireless.opts so the first statement now reads
as above, still no joy though.
I pick up the AP fine, it just won't get an IP, even though Kismet is able
to give me the IP Address Range.
Please note that I am using hostAP on the _Client_ device (a laptop using a
seano card from solwise and the hostap_cs modules), I am not setting up and
access point.

Matt

Is that a vanilla 2.6.10 or have you applied the VIA EPIA patch?

Okay - that sets the think to PAL

What is the report from "ivtvctl -P"?
This is the input mode. If it comes back as one of the composite modes (use
ivtvctrl -n to list all the modes available) then this might explane why
your seeing just a B&W image. Try setting it to
one of the S-Video input settings to mach the signal being pumped out of the
Sky+ box (ivtvctrl -p 6).
Hope this helps, let me know

Are you using pump or dhclient. I've seen it that sometimes one works were
the other doesn't. Both ways around - on the same machine too. Go figure.
Before switching if iwconfig(8) is telling you that you are connected to the
AP then trying running dhclient/pump by hand. If you're using dhclient
(which I am) then run it my hand:
# dhclient <iface-name>
It reports what it is doing and what it receives - this can help
debug the problem. Also look in the system logs (/var/log/syslog) for any
help messages there. You should see PCMCIA log the insertion of the card and
what it trys to do. - I am assuming that the PCMCIA scheme your running does
a DHCP lookup in /etc/pcmcia/network.opt.

:O
I'm having exactly the same problem with my WinTV primio (cheap TV input
card, not really a PVR card). It uses the cx8800 driver, not bttv...
I thought it was my region settings at first, but I screwed around with
those to no end, and gave up eventually and started using XP as my main OS
instead of Ubuntu. From googling the problem again, there seems to be a lot
more information on the problem, this page seems to be the most useful,
where it suggests using a higher hue and colour value.

Hope this helps, I'm going to try it myself tonight

OK,
I've now played with all of the files, I've got my card issuing a
DHCP_DISCOVER and despite the fact that the WRT54G is broadcasting IPs on
the cabled LAN, I still can't get one on the WLAN.
Any Ideas?
This is really weird!
