Well as I sit here I am running Ubuntu Hoary and Kde 3.8 [2]

My opinion is this ... 

If you want an easy life in terms of simple choices then use Ubuntu
if you want a exciting life in terms of lots of choices then use
knoppix.

Either way you will use Debian so im happy


I do note that the Knoppix environment supports NXMachine Server
immediately where as Ubuntu required some mirror.backport juggling.
