A friend took me to the Tolworth Computer Fair this afternoon. This one
is also run by BCF and is very much larger than the Worthing one.
See http://www.computer-fairs.co.uk/

My friend goes there often and pointed me in the direction of a computer
club's stand, which has an impressive banner proclaiming its presence.
We could do with one of these for the Worthing show ... ;)

This computer club is called Sutton Library Computer Club and has two
meetings a month. It covers general computing but includes some on
Linux. I just went to its website at www.slcc.org.uk. I can't give you
any specific Linux URLs because it's a frames site, but you will see an
example by clicking on Articles, then Software, then The SUSE Linux OS.
Linux mentions also get included in its newsletter.

Anyway, it was on this stand that I met Desmond, who was showing
Mandriva 2006 on his laptop (he's a member of the Mandriva club and runs
install fests). Hi Desmond! Glad you're able to come to our next moot :)

Also on the stand were Mike and Don. Don is interested in transferring
to Linux, but only when he can fully see how to convert his Excel
programs over to something like Calc. He showed me a sample print-out of
an interactive process operation simulator diagram and went over how it
works. I said that I would take a look at the code if he brings it to
the next moot, as he doesn't at the moment have access to the Internet.
