* Summary
In this position you will be responsible for maintaining Codefarm’s
internal IT infrastructure and also working alongside the Product
Development and Research teams maintaining Codefarm’s R&D compute
cluster. This is an important hands-on role with a dynamic, creative
and technically excellent company with the potential to make a
valuable contribution to its successful growth and rapid expansion.
The role will be mainly Brighton based with occasional travel to
Codefarm’s London office.

Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and enhancement of Codefarm’s internal IT
infrastructure.
Windows desktop support primarily for non-technical staff members,
technical staff members being largely self-supporting.
Maintenance and expansion an R&D Linux compute cluster.
Occasional maintenance cover for Codefarm’s production compute
cluster.
Reports To: Technology Director.
Remuneration:

Location: Brighton, UK with occasional travel to London.

alongside technical and non-technical teams.
Willingness to occasionally work out of office hours where required
to minimize in-hours downtime.
Skills:
Essential skills include,
* RHEL/CentOS, Fedora Core administration.
* Excellent Linux scripting (bash, perl, python).
* Mail server administration (Exim, Cyrus IMAPD) and mail filtering
(SpamAssassin, ClamAV).
* Web server administration (Apache 2.0, including mod_dav) and
Apache Tomcat and web application administration (Confluence,
JIRA).
* Source control system administration (CVS, Subversion, CVS to
Subversion migration).
* Network administration (DHCP, Bind with dynamic updates, LDAP) and
network security fundamentals (IPTables, use of OpenSSL tools for
certificate creation and management, SSH tunneling).
* Database administration (esp. PostgreSQL).
* Linux server and Windows desktop backup and disaster recovery.
* Windows desktop support including basic desktop setup, secure
mail, WebDAV, network printer configuration.
Other highly desirable skills include,
* Administration of Platform Symphony, Sun Grid Engine and/or
Datasynapse Grid Server or similar.
* Filesystem administration including LVM and RAID.
* Server and network hardware management (eg. adding disks, memory
etc., UPS's, KVM’s, cabling).
* Linux virtualization technologies (esp. VMWare Server, Xen).
* Experience with Red Hat packaging and package distribution
including spec file authoring, yum repository creation and
maintenance.
* Basic webmaster skills (HTML/CSS/JSP maintenance, web application
deployment).
Experience:
Experienced (3+ years) Linux/Windows Systems Administrator.
Track record in a HPC environment (academic, sci/eng or financial)
would be highly desirable.
