I previously reported the problem which I had and it looks as though you
have the same problem. I also reported the kernel problem to the
appropriate kernel team but don't have solution as yet.
Just to remind you also that the Mandriva 2008.0 PWP does work but the
whole acpi is a mess.
At the same time remind you that I have tried the latest fedora and the
latest ubuntu with much less success.
Please take a look at:-

If you are able to make progress on this one I do want to know.
My laptop has been in a corner for a while, so I am going to have
another go at it and I am going to do the following:-
1/ Install Mandriva 2008.0 PWP
2/ Fully update
3/ Try again to get the openchrome drivers to work. I could make no
sense of them before.
4/ Put the disk into another machine (with a more friendly chipset)
5/ upgrade to Mandriva 2008.1 PWP
6/ fully update (there is now an updated kernel for 2008.1)
7/ see if the drive will now work in the difficult laptop with the Via
chipset. - fingers crossed!
