[Sussex] upgrading my desktop

Be courageous! Push the wires out of the way, check the socket is not
too dusty (vacuum if necessary) and slot the little blighter in! Check
the notch(es) for the right way round, good firm push and check the
ends have clicked in. Only takes a few seconds.
You don't say what system you're running, or how you're using it to
need the extra memory, but going from 2 to 3 GB may not make as much
difference as you'd like. Could be some system tweaks will improve
things (like background services and heavy desktop) just as well.
Things you'd expect to be demanding often aren't the main culprits;
the first thing folk benefit from on moving to Linux is dropping the
virus checker, but there are people who still believe you need one -
they are wrong.
I do visit Burgess Hill occasionally but can't see it in the next
couple of weeks. There are plenty who could help just up in East
Grinstead, one might come to your rescue any minute...
