Dont you ever read any of the technology news sites.

This has been a big thing in america, with certain of the broadband
companies over there getting all shirty about people using ip-masq and
public WiFi networks and stuff.

Meanwhile in the real world, generally the ISP couldnt care less, afair
NTL's broadband website even makes suggestions of software to use to
setup it up, with a footnote that they wont give you any tech support on
it.

As for running servers on your connection, its far too much hassle to
actually check it, the rules are there so if someone causes trouble, eg
by hosting a large porno server or something, they have an easy
comeback. For an average users small home pages or something theyre not
going to care. The dynamic ip, and assymetric uplink speeds general
discourage such use for all but the most determined anyway.
