Hi Stu.

I'm from Pontypridd and quite coincidentally I was about to ask a general
question to everyone on the list.

I have just bought a new-media/web design company in Pontypridd. I bought it
as a going concern, and I need now to think about software licencing - a
major financial headache for me. The office has 4 networked desktop
machines, ISDN line for Internet access shared on one machine acting as a
server.

I am thinking of implementing a Linux distro for all the desktops, cutting
my Windows licencing at a stroke. However, the designers need and use
Macromedia Dreamweaver for HTML/ASP development, Photoshop 7 for imagery,
Illustrator 10 for Vector graphics and Adobe Idesign for DTP work. I would
guess that we could use open source software for all our other requirements
(Office, scanning etc.)

My questions are, could I either run these essential products in Linux under
WINE or similar, or can anyone suggest open source alternatives, and if it
looks viable does anyone on the list offer a service to install and
configure Linux on these machines for me. (I would assume that Mandrake,
Redhat or Susie would be best) for a fee of course!

Sorry its long-winded

Best wishes

Gary
