[SWLUG] Can't save wallpaer choice as root

Dear All

I have noticed that the wallpaper choices I make and save when I am logged in as root do not appear later when I login again as root. Any wallpaper changes I make as a user remain for the next session. This only occures in root.

Perhaps the Consol and xconsol reports are relevent:
Before login consol says: "linux cardmgr[823] : config error, file 'config.add_kernel' line 322 : unknown device : 8139too"

After login as root xconsol says:
" ..... linux modprobe : modprobe : Can't locate module sound-service-1-0"

I tried to play an audio CD and it worked ok. When I login as a user xconsol does not report any error messages.

The only unknown device that I can think of is my HAMR 5600 win modem. Though how that impacts on wallpaper choices is unknown to me.

I hope this has been useful in finding a solution and I look forward to any help possible.

Thanks

Stephen (Swansea, Wales, UK)
