Several people have asked why I use drive caddies. The
answer is simply this:
I have two machines - one set up as a server and one
set up as a desktop. It was very useful when I was
having problems with XP to compare my problems on both
machines by simply whipping the drive in and out in a
caddy.
As it happens I have 40 gig drives in my server on a
raid system as my main data store. My new desktop disk
is also a 40 gig but XP takes up about a gig and a
half.
My old disks are both 4 gig. My idea is to have one as
a transfer disk that can be accessed by both Windows
and Linux. The remaining 4 gig can be used exclusively
for Linux. I'm not a fan of dual boot systems. I like
things to be physically separate.
