The best thing to use, if you have it is something like partition magic,
which will let you shrink the windows partition down and leave
unallocated space on the disk.

There used to be a tool called fips which could resize an (already
defragged) vfat partition, but i dont know what that projects status is,
or if any distributions include it in the installer.

Once you have unallocated space on the drive most distributions should
be able to automatically partition that space up for you.
