I've got Debian running on a couple of Macs at home, including a G3
iMac2 (the "anglepoise" variety). The first machine was quite easy to
set up (an iBook2) but the iMac took a bit more persuading as it needed
a modified kernel to get it running smoothly. The framebuffer colours
were corrupt - have you ever tried to work with bright green text on a
bright purple background for any length of time? - and X simply refused
to start.
The only real advice I have is that Google is your friend and that
you'll probably want to rsync with benh's kernel and use that. Also, the
Debian installation manual is pretty good for ppc as I remember.
