Hi Mark

Many thanks for your reply.  Your help was invaluable. I now have X 
windows up and running.

I had already sussed out the frame buffer problem and removed it, but 
following your lead I cut down the rest of the video device definition.  I 
also removed one of the mouse devices, but it was the Configured 
Mouse that worked for me, not the Generic Mouse.

Now for the next problem...but that's another subject, so a new post.
