You don't. Ubuntu is Debian based, so you want a DEB file (unless you
fancy messing around with alien in a console, which you don't).
You're making things several hundred thousand times harder for yourself
by not plugging a network cable into it and just snagging the whole lot
from the Ubuntu servers. Seriously. Otherwise what will happen is you'll
find a .deb file, copy it over, try installing it (which is a
console-based operation, "dpkg -i whatever.deb"), and it will list a
whole load of dependencies which you'll then download, copy onto a CDRW
or CF card, install one by one using dpkg -i, find more dependencies,
repeat ad infinitum.
Apt, and its GUI frontend Synaptic, are here to protect you and your
folicles from such madness. Hook up to the net, download what you need,
disconnect. It's EASY =)
