The Linux-wlan pages are a good place to find info about which chipsets
are in which wifi cards:
http://www.linux-wlan.org/docs/wlan_adapters.html.gz
When I last had to buy 802.11g kit I found it fairly difficult to get hold
of supported hardware. I'd recommend hardware supported by the Prism54
drivers but it's difficult to be sure of getting supported hardware since
the manufacturers have a habit of changing chipsets without changing the
model numbers of the cards, so I'd stear clear of that. I understand the
cards supported by the madwifi driver are well supported and reasonably
easy to get hold of though though and at worst case you could use
ndiswrapper to drive a lot of the unsupported cards.
