I have found that for more than a couple of years now there isn't much
that I do on windows apart from the laptop with a wireless card,
ndiswrapper doesn't work, but every other function I find is done
better and more reliably under Linux.
I farted around with oldish hardware installing various other distros
while having a working version of Mandrake as the main platform. Since
having broadband I have used smoothwall express as a router and I have
installed Debian, sarge then testing, and use it all of the time. I
have upgraded the kernel and got my nvidia stuff working fine.
But when it comes to any of the other stuff I can sometimes get most
of the stuff working in a half-arsed way ;-)
I use a GUI as a preference and I don't write much of anything but
html, not even that using Wordpress.
I'm now rambling so I will stop with a vote in favour of learning
about apache and bind etc
