One thing to remember - if you're using separate cards then you can ignore 
all the stuff which Nvidia tell you (assuming you're using the binary 
drivers).  Basically, with 2 cards, you need to use the normal Xinerama 
stuffand itshouldn't matter what drivers or cards you have.

Check you got the PCI IDs right and stuff.  Also checking the Xorg 
logfile might give you pointers (you should see if stuff it failint to 
initialise).

If you can't get Xorg to work on 2 screens then it doesn't matter what 
desktop environment you're using.

ISTR it was very easy to set it up when I did it, but I can't refer to 
that config for you because I've now gone to a single-card solution using 
the nvidia specific stuff.
