intensive to decode than MP3, or something - mobile phone people are 
universally paranoid of anything touching battery life.

However, that said, later versions of Symbian have support for a 
pluggable audio subsystem, for which there exists an open-source Ogg 
Vorbis plugin. This covers at least the Nokia S[eries ]60 
smartphones, for which there's also a standalone player for earlier 
Series 60 versions/editions/feature-packs.

(And yes, it annoys me that Nokia change the name with every release. 
Or version. Or feature pack.)
