If you have time to wait (by which I mean plenty, a year
plus), you could wait for the OpenGraphics project to finish
their first card - there'll be a PCI-Express model released
(very nice project, by all accounts).

If not, all I can say with any authority is not NVidia,
while they mostly work (with the proprietery driver), they
generally aren't much fun with Linux.
I believe Matrox have decent free drivers, but they (to the
best of my limited knowledge) are somewhat outdated now.
