It does look as though you've got a conflict between your
kernel headers that are installed and the ones you need for
the kernel you're running. Do you have more than one kernel
option from the boot-up GRUB screen? if so try selecting
the older one...
Does your connection work if you connect it using a CAT5
cable?
If you're able to access your samba shares then it means
you are connected to the network though, which is a good
start.
Do you know your route/gateway and DNS settings? on my
system I just set those as the router itself (192.168.1.1)
