A bit of advice, ladies and gentlemen, if you please.

My home machine is creaking (self-build, c. 2001, AMD 850MHz, 120GB+30GB
HD, 1GB DDR, Rage 128 gfx), and I'm looking at a few nice machines built
by Palicomp, on eBay, e.g.

or

or

Basically, I want a Quad-core 64bit 12GHz, 8GB DDR3, 1TB SATA, but as I
don't play games, I'm not bothered too much about the gfx card. It also
has to be < £500. What I *will* be doing is running Ubuntu 9.10 (with
Windows XP for iTunes, under VirtualBox), and maybe some CPU-intensive
server apps.

Does anyone have any recommendations, re. gfx cards and their support in
Linux?

Cheers,

Marcus
