I have a 1005HA Eee with Mint 8 installed.  Worked almost perfectly out 
of the box.  A few tweaks were needed to get some of the Eee-specific 
hotkeys working properly, but nothing too taxing.

Battery life I find very good indeed.  Typically 4-6 hours, depending on 
what I'm doing with it.
