Hi Neil,

If your system has the bind caching nameserver you've probably got the 
modified package which is just intended to serve just the machine it's 
installed on (as the name implies).

If you're using something rpm-based you would probably be better off 
removing bind-caching-nameserver and installing normal bind, this will 
give you a more standardised setup.

Out of interest which distro are you running?
