[SWLUG] Mobile broadband - can I make one machine feed the others?

Hi Matthew et al,

Thanks for all your help on this.

Here's the summary:

I bought a Vodafone K3570-Z broadband dongle (USB).

It would not work on my desktop machine running Debian 6 (not even
sakis3g could connect).

It works on my Acer One netbook under Windows 7 Starter (but that won't
share the connection). It also works on this netbook under Ubuntu 10.10
- but unreliably, sometimes it connects and sometimes it doesn't.

I'm no fan of Apple or the Mac interface but my MacBook (10.5.8) works
reliably with it. Furthermore, by simply connecting a network cable from
the Mac to my desktop machine (and telling the Mac to share the
connection) I have got the internet on my desktop machine (which I was
desperate to achieve).

So, finally, even though plus.net have let me down (failed Thu 28th July
before 09:00, still not back apart from ~09:00 Tue 2nd Aug to ~12:00 Wed
3rd Aug), I at least have a working internet connection:-)

Thanks!
