[SWLUG] Unified Diff

Hey guys,
I'm one of the organisers of Unified Diff - apologies for randomly dropping in the middle of a conversation, but someone mentioned this discussion to me with respect to the conflict of dates. Just wanted to let you know that we didn't deliberately schedule UD to be on the same night as SWLUG - we just plumped for the first Wednesday in the month as we thought it would be easy for people to remember. We booked the venue for the first few months in advance, but if you want to keep your meetings on the first Wednesday we'd happily move ours in future. It goes against our aim to cause any dischord between groups, so apologies for that, and thanks for coming last time. Hope to see you again soon!
Cheers,
Craig

To be honest, in the Spring/Summer/Autumn months, Wednesday isn't a great night for me as it clashes with my climbing. So I wouldn't mind it moving, to say Tuesday?
As I've already stated on IRC I feel quite strongly that the LUG should aim to be separate from other nights such as u.diff (don't mind it as a one off, but they don't seem to mind deliberately scheduling a meeting that clashes, which is annoying). However I'm aware that LUG nights aren't exactly that well attended, so if people want to keep LUG nights the same as u.diff, then that's fine.
Cheers,
Matt

Tuesday would suit me fine. I do think there would be some benefit to keeping the nights separate.
It seems a different kind of thing. I do feel that we could achieve a bit more with LUG stuff anyway.
I have at least been one to participate in the talks and I'd like to do more. Perhaps this year may offer an opportunity for me to do so i can't say as yet.
Numbers haven't been wonderful but the night of the week seems to be at least part of the problem.
Carmarthen is quite successful for some reason on a Tuesday night, but because of the wretched trains leaving so early I often can't go. Paradoxically Cardiff is much easier because the trains run westwards until after midnight.

I agree. I'm just putting the question out there for everyone (those not on IRC), which I'm sure you appreciate :-)
Maybe we can have a Facebook poll to see what nights people can attend or use something like http://www.doodle.com to arrive at a 'good night' ?
Isn't there a SWLUG Facebook presence now?
Anyway, I'd like SWLUG to keep going, even if I rarely attend. My inability to attend has often been work related (arriving back in Cardiff too late).
Cheers,
Gerald

I can probably make it more often on a Tuesday evening too.
Gneel.
P.S. Sorry for the brevity, this is typed on my phone.
