[Swlug] What's causing this system freeze and is it fixable?

After the system failed to ready any of the USB memory sticks I offered it, I rebooted and there was a scrolling screen full of failures.After that I did a hard reset.It came up with another long list of failures.Then I reset again and got a grub menu I'd never seen before so I went for mint cinnamon and it all went belly up againI reset again and it came up with a BusyBox that I'd never seen before or even heard of.So, a bit of research later and I came up with this.... fsck -y /dev/mmcblk0p2 
So I typed fsck -y /dev/mmcblk0p2 and waited with baited breath. It seems to have fixed the later problems. I'm wondering whether since it was a corrupt boot record whether that was causing my other issues. Only time will tell.
