My laptop is now up and running. It's an Asus L210M and there was no driver for the realtek RTL8821CE wifi. In the end I had to go to Github for one and had to turn off secure boot in the UEFI. It wasn't quite that simple though. I had to connect my laptop to my phone via USB which was connected to the wifi network to download the Github library. Quite a complex and interesting process.
