[TynesideLUG] Linux Tablet with Camera(s)?

Hi Ian and Tim,

Thanks for the responses!

Thanks for the discussion and link Ian:

I was not aware of that site.  Looks like zero X86_64 based tablets with
working cameras as yet!

I'll try and add my feedback from a Lenovo MIIX320 if I remember (for
anyone interested the general idea is works with Ubuntu 24.04, but no
camera.  My wifi is mainly OK, but seems to flake out for ~1 minute
every hour or so

, but that could be an issue with the second hand tablet I bought... )

Thanks Tim for the discussion:

I'd be interested to know the outcome of any test with your Fusion 5,
but sorry to say I'll not be able to attend any time soon to participate
in practical tests!

Pinetab[2] looks interesting, but I've been put off by the lack of
availability (whenever I look there tends to be none available - not
sure if this is a versioning plan or just limited availability).

It reminded me of Raspberry Pi based tablets, but none I've found have a
camera built in (and I think Rasp Pis only support one camera, so even
3D printing is not an option to get bi-directional cameras).

If any other ideas come along, please let me know!

I've been thinking of projects which would benefit from a good Linux
tablet with cameras built in for a while - and I guess I'll keep
thinking of them for a bit longer without being able to follow through
on them.

I may eventually bite (byte? ... sorry!) the bullet and learn enough
about Android to use it 'properly' (i.e. automate, lock down and gain
remote access).

Thanks all!

Will.
