Hello Keith,

It sounds like your firewall is blocking connections from other machines
to the web server. It worked locally as you weren't connecting from an
external IP address (i.e. another machine on the LAN)

Open YaST and go to the Security and Firewall section. You need to allow
the HTTP service.

I use SLES10 at work a fair bit - it is a good distro but I don't know if I would pay for it for home use.

SUSE 10 (or 10.1) would be equally as suitable for home use.
