Toby, that last link looks like just the job... and not a soldering  
iron in sight. I think I've seen one of the old VGA/Mac adapters in a  
box of junk in our server room at work :D

Nice one... if get a chance to get some 75ohm resistors and another  
VGA adapter I will bring them along just for the crack XD
