Thanks Neel,

That seems to have done the trick.  Mind you it 4 attempts as I had no idea
which of the paths it was suggesting were the right ones.

Anyway, the optimizer is now showing in phpinfo, the error has stopped but
the calendar still wont work.  I'll figure this one out later.
